10 countries, 1500 listings…When you deal with such diversity day in and out, you know that Revenue management at Strategy Cues is anything but boring. We are not just working on softwares or different dashboards; we constantly look at data and analyze it in the best way possible while optimizing every tool like a pro. Daily work starts with a strong coffee (non-negotiable) while overlooking our portfolios!
Morning huddles: Thanks to the well-organized structure, the team is ready with their To Do lists and discusses operations and meetings scheduled. We already have multiple reports set up on Pricelabs (our first choice as a platform) be it for general pickup, overall portfolio management or optimizing focus listings.
I skim through all relevant points for about five partners and prepare their highlights. Then comes the fun part – strategizing! We either have a tete-a-tete with the Founder or a team member explaining the findings and the actions required, a quick peek into how I do it:
How Strategy Happens:
Portfolio Level: Setting up actions for far-out using pricing, seasonality or group/account overrides on Pricelabs.
Listing Level: Using ‘Neighbourhood Data’ and pacing against the market provided on different dashboards on Pricelabs – this gives me an idea about market demand, and I can make a call either to hold or deploy some inorganic pushes for a particular listing.
Last Minute Actions: We all love full occupancy; doesn’t that sound lovely? To make it a reality for our partners at Strategy Cues, we set up multiple last minute and orphan gap discounts/premium, balancing the occupancy – ADR ratios. We do understand that it’s almost like a tight rope to walk on for owners who aren’t very well acquainted with Revenue Management per se, but the decisions taken at Strategy Cues are carefully curated and meticulously tested.
Strategy Cues Recommends:
A small tip, always keep data handy. As a Revenue Manager, I enjoy being able to instantly refer to a few reports on Pricelabs, which saves me ample time and helps in making instant decisions while the partners are there to understand the decision-making process.
Partner catch-ups calls are then followed by forecasting sessions, channel optimizations and diving deep into the nitty gritty – for instance, average length of stay, booking windows, weekday-weekend splits, event/holiday set up and a lot more.
My favourite way of setting up systems is dividing all strategies into broad and narrow deployments, that is also how each of our accounts are set up on pricelabs/RMS. As the day winds down, our handover for other team members gets sent across, and communications are cascaded to partners regarding weekly movements or queries.
At Strategy Cues, Revenue Management isn’t just a role — it’s a daily adventure in strategy, innovation, and impact. Are you ready to scale your properties to newer heights? Let’s make those numbers sing!
